Water leaking near the electrics, or a burning smell? Stop using the washer. Never touch the plug or the machine with wet hands or on a wet floor; switch off at the breaker instead.
Some faults start outside the washer. These safe checks take minutes.
Water supply: tap fully open, inlet hose not kinked. The top-load KTW has hot and cold inlets; see the manual if only one is connected.
Drain and load: drain hose not kinked or pushed deep into the waste pipe; laundry evenly spread.
Settings: child lock off, and delay start (up to 24 hours on the front-loaders) not set by mistake.
Power cuts: Kiriazi states that the top-load KTW resumes its programme when power returns, so wait before calling it a fault.
Pick the closest description. The causes are possibilities, not a final diagnosis.
Water stays in the drum, or the pump hums and little drains.
Coins or hairpins in the pump filter, a kinked or blocked hose, a slow household drain, or a failed pump. KTW and KW washers both drain by electric pump.
Check the hose and the household drain. Clean a front-loader's pump filter as the manual shows, unplugged. Keep tools out of the pump.
Tests the pump, the drain path and the control board's signal to the pump.
Clothes come out soaking, or the washer starts to spin and backs off.
An unbalanced load, water that has not drained, a slack or broken front-loader belt, worn carbon brushes, or a motor or inverter-board fault on top-loaders sold with an inverter motor.
Redistribute the laundry and run spin alone with a medium load, once the water has fully drained.
Checks drainage first, then the belt, motor, speed sensor and control board.
No sound of water, very slow filling, or water entering while the washer is off.
Low water pressure, a clogged inlet filter, a failed inlet valve or a misreading level sensor. Kiriazi states that the top-load KTW works with low water pressure, but every machine has a minimum.
Compare the pressure at a nearby tap. With the supply closed, clean the mesh filter at the tap end of the hose. If water enters with the washer off, shut the tap: the valve is stuck open.
Measures the valve coil and checks the inner filter, the level sensor and its hose.
The washer walks, bangs, or makes a roar that rises with speed.
Uneven feet, an unbalanced load, weak shock absorbers or worn drum bearings. A steady roar that remains with an empty drum points to the bearings.
Level the feet and tighten their lock nuts. Spin with the drum empty: if the noise stays, the load is not the cause.
Checks the shock absorbers, springs, bearings and drum support. Delaying a bearing repair lets the damage spread.
Water under the washer, around the door or from the detergent drawer.
A torn or dirty front-loader door seal, excess foam from unsuitable detergent, a loose internal hose or a leaking pump body. On top-loaders, the inlet connections or the drain hose.
Note where and when water appears (filling or draining). Clean the door seal folds and use automatic-machine detergent in the right dose.
Traces the leak with the washer running and a cover off, instead of replacing the seal on a guess.
Front-loader: the lock light stays off. Top-loader: a message or beep when you press start.
Laundry caught in the door, a failed door lock, a loose hinge, or a lid switch that does not register. An active child lock looks the same.
Check nothing is trapped, close the door with one firm push, and look up the child lock in your manual.
Tests the door lock or lid switch and its wiring before blaming the control board.
The remaining time freezes, the programme runs far too long, or hot washes leave detergent marks.
The front-load KW is listed with an internal heater. If the heater or its temperature sensor fails, or scale builds up, the programme waits for heat that never comes. Draining, filling or the board can also be the cause.
Run a cold programme: if it finishes, suspect the heating circuit. Do not remove the back cover.
Measures the heater and sensor, checks for scale, and tests the heater for earth leakage, which trips the breaker.
A front-loader keeps its door locked while water is in the drum. Forcing it breaks the lock and floods the room.
Unplug and wait a few minutes; the lock needs time to release.
Run drain or spin alone. If the pump clears the water, the door will open.
Let hot water cool before any attempt to empty the drum.
Pump filter: open it only as your manual shows, in stages, with a tray ready, and never fully on a full drum.

Clearing a coin from a drain pump is not the job that replacing a control board is, and one symptom can have several causes.
At booking: ask about inspection and travel fees, and what you pay if you decline the repair.
After inspection: get the part and labour cost before you approve, and check the repair-warranty terms on the invoice.
Control board: before approving replacement, ask for the inspection findings, cost and model compatibility. The fault may be in a component it controls, such as the door lock, pump or level sensor.
Drum bearings: a major front-loader repair; ask how long it takes and whether it is done at home.

Drain pumps and door locks look alike across brands, but connectors, ratings and mountings differ, and the top-load KTW takes a different motor and board from the front-load KW. Ask about the part's type, source, compatibility, price and warranty, and have it written on the invoice. Availability is checked per request and cannot be promised for every model.
Empty pockets before washing; coins and hairpins commonly jam the drain pump.
Use automatic-machine detergent in the stated dose; excess foam causes leaks and strains the pump.
Run the tub-clean programme on the top-load KTW regularly, and an empty hot wash on the front-loader now and then.
Leave the front-loader's door and drawer ajar after washing so the seal dries.
Clean the top-loader's four lint filters, and the front-loader's pump filter as the manual shows.
Do not overload: 9 kg means dry laundry, not a drum packed to the top.
